My client is a very successful travel company based in the Swindon area, we are looking for a SQL Designer/Developer to lead the maintenance and enhancement of the Data Warehouse and other databases, including the creation of new data-driven tools and applications to enhance organisational productivity and/or to deliver an improved experience for customers. The successful candidate will have a positive and analytical mind-set and creative problem-solving skills, you will have the ability to prioritise and manage your own workload, combined with a pragmatic and commercially aware approach. You will be a good communicator, both written and verbal, able to interact with co-workers at all levels from the leadership team down, and will have the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues.
You will have the ability to develop T-SQL queries and procedures, create custom reports and modify existing user forms. You will produce clear documentation and will mentor members of the IT team who are less experienced with the databases.
You will take ownership of the databases and will be responsible for ensuring their stability, reliability and performance.
THE JOB;
*Design, Development and Delivery of high quality database solutions
*Develop, implement and optimize stored procedures and functions using T-SQL
*Investigate root causes of exceptions and take ownership of the solutions.
*Build appropriate and useful reporting deliverables
*Create and run ad-hoc queries and reports.
*Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements
*Review and interpret ongoing business reporting requirements
*Provide timely scheduled management reporting

THE CANDIDATE;
*Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company's success
*Critical thinker and creative problem-solving skills
*3 years plus experience as a SQL Designer
*5 years plus experience as a SQL Developer or similar role
*Basic DBA skills, such as performance tuning, backup and restore.
*Excellent understanding of T-SQL programming
*Excellent understanding of Microsoft SQL Server
*Team player
*Commercial awareness
*Excellent communication skills
*Works well under pressure
Desirable
*System architecture and design experience
*Understanding of Data Warehousing principles, particularly Kimball methodology
*R-OLAP experience
*Experience with industry-standard reporting and data visualisation tools, such as PowerBI, Business Objects and Tableau.
*Experience of source code control systems, such as Git and Visual SourceSafe.
THE PACKAGE;
The successful candidate can expect a fantastic basic salary in the region of £45000.00 DOE plus you can expect some excellent company benefits to include company bonus, medical cash plan, pension and discounted travel
