An established and highly respected tour operator specialising in guided educational history tours for groups, schools, and universities is seeking a Junior Historical Tours Specialist to join its growing team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine a passion for history with a career in travel. You will manage the full lifecycle of bespoke tours - from initial enquiry and proposal development through to delivery and occasional tour accompaniment.

Their programmes include World War I battlefield tours, studies of the rise of Nazism and the lead-up to World War II, military history itineraries, and a wide range of other curriculum-focused experiences.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with travel industry experience, a recent graduate in History or a related discipline, or an individual who has recently returned from travelling and is keen to build a career in educational travel.

Job Description:

  • Liaise directly with clients to understand requirements and develop tailored tour proposals
  • Convert enquiries into confirmed bookings through consultative sales and relationship management
  • Provide accurate and detailed information regarding accommodation, transport, excursions, and educational content
  • Ensure all itineraries align with clients' academic objectives and budget parameters
  • Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers to secure travel, accommodation, and site visits
  • Manage tour budgets effectively and ensure profitability targets are met
  • Monitor and process client payments in line with agreed schedules
  • Participate in inspection visits and occasionally accompany tours
  • Manage online chat enquiries professionally and efficiently
  • Engage positively with social media channels in line with company guidelines

Skills Required:

  • Previous experience in the travel industry or strong academic background in History or a related field
  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Target-driven, self-motivated, and commercially aware
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Calm, practical, and solution-focused approach to problem-solving and emergency situations
  • Willingness to travel internationally on occasion

The Package:

  • A competitive starting salary + commission
  • Monday - Friday: 9am - 5:00pm
