Low Demand For Expensive World Cup Hotels

Nearly 8000 hotel rooms held for the FIFA World Cup have been put back on the market due to lower demand than was originally anticipated. Match, the FIFA agency which organises accommodation for the event, said that the 7,843 rooms released are mostly outside of the host cities for bookings either side of the match days. The Telegraph reported that the move would be welcome news to football fans put off by the high prices.

“The move is good news for British football fans keen to see the action first hand and to take advantage of additional accommodation options at sensible prices,” said Lebo Mokhesi, Country Manager for South African Tourism.
