Unite officials are expected to announce strike dates today for British Airways cabin crew after talks with the airline broke down last night.
The union must give seven days’ warning of any industrial action. They have until Monday to name the dates.
The long-running negotiations with the airline collapsed after Unite made a counter-offer to the airline’s proposals over pay and the cutting of a cabin crew member from long-haul flights. The counter-offer was not accepted.
A Unite spokesman said: “Talks with BA concluded without agreement being reached. Management’s offer went nowhere near addressing our members’ concerns over crew numbers and service levels.
“Wednesday’s talks were further impeded by gratuitously provocative statements by senior BA managers not involved in the negotiations, once more calling into question the company’s interest in reaching an agreement.”
A BA spokesman said the airline remained open for further talks, should Unite bosses change their minds.
